DesiCity is a platform from which you can sell goods directly to buyers across the UK. From the moment you sign up to the site, we want you to have a positive experience buying and selling on DesiCity. Please read on to find out more about your rights, as well as what is expected of you, as both the buyer and seller.

1. Types of Fees

Sellers will be required to pay the following fee:

Commission Fee

Commission is set at 11% and is taken at the point of sale, after any sales/vouchers have been applied.

Delivery Fees

Sellers state, incur and receive all of the stated delivery fees.

Seller may voluntarily choose to pay for the following optional service:

Advertising and Promotional Fees

DesiCity offers to help you advertise your listings and promote your shop. The relevant fees and costs depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to, time and date, duration, location.

DesiCity utilises advertising outside the DesiCity marketplace, on platforms such as social networks and search engines. If you elect to use DesiCity services to advertise outside of the platform, then relevant fees will be incurred. Sellers will be informed of any fees prior to the advert becoming live.

If DesiCity elects to advertise on their own accord and includes your listing, and then a buyer subsequently clicks on the ad, and then orders from your shop you will not be charged an advertising fee on these orders.

Delivery Fees

Sellers state, incur and receive all of the stated delivery fees.

Fees that you will not pay

Sellers will not pay the following:

1. Platform joining fee
2. Platform subscription fee
3. Product listing fee
4. Product renewal fee
5. Payment transaction fee
6. Admin fee

2. Fee Avoidance

Any action by a seller to avoid paying a fee is considered fee avoidance and is strictly prohibited by DesiCity. This includes, for example, encouraging buyers to purchase an item advertised in your DesiCity shop through another venue. A transaction initiated on DesiCity may not be completed off of DesiCity. The price stated in each listing description must be an accurate representation of the sale. Sellers may not alter the item’s price after a sale for the purpose of avoiding DesiCity transaction fees, misrepresent the item’s location, or use another user’s account without permission.

3. Paying your DesiCity Fees

At the point of sale, i.e. as soon as a purchase is made on the platform, DesiCity pays all commissions owed to both the seller and DesiCity immediately into the relevant Stripe accounts.

1. DesiCity uses Stripe as our payment management platform. They are a worldwide leader in payment management systems. 
2. Stripe securely stores all relevant payment details. This is not stored by DesiCity
3. It is up to the seller to withdraw any funds from their Stripe account, to their bank account.
4. Sellers must sign up to a Stripe account, which is free and quick to do, and connect it, or their existing Stripe account, to the DesiCity account via the seller dashboard or during the signup process..

4. DesiCity Payments

DesiCity Payments enables sellers to accept various forms of payment while using DesiCity’s platform. Sellers will be able to accept payment by credit or debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
